Slacker Tuesday

I'm ashamed to say that for the third week in a row, I've missed out on Stick 'Em Up Tuesdays. I've been busy. Sue me.

Anyway, I promise I'll get back to that one of these Tuesdays, but for now, I'm just going to vent a little.

I am not naive enough to think that just because I'm in college now, everyone will grow up and be civil to each other. Obviously, and unfortunately, that is not the case. There are plenty of adults, past college-aged included, that treat each other with ridiculous amounts of malice and are just plain rude. Albeit, sometimes rude behavior is warranted, whether or not it is the right response, but I just do not understand some rudeness.

For example, when walking around your college campus, why would you ever feel that it was necessary to make eye contact with and then completely fail to acknowledge somebody that you know on a first-name basis? This has happened to me 3 times this week with 2 different girls. Obviously, there are times when you pass somebody in the hall and they are just not paying attention and do not realize that they've passed you without acknowledging you, but I have met and hung out in mutual-friend situations with both of these girls before, and both of them have looked me in the face, pointedly avoided even waving, and continued on their way.

It's shameful, honestly. Especially for people who call themselves Christians. God calls us to be gracious and loving to everyone, especially one another. How can someone who claims to believe that intentionally ignore another human being? What's the deal, mean girls?!

Blogging Hiatus

Well, I accidentally took a little hiatus from blogging. I flew to California to be a bridesmaid in my cousin's wedding and to make a very long story very short, the airline completely screwed things up and I had to fly back a day later than scheduled. Which meant getting 2 hours of sleep before taking 3 midterms, hence the lack of blogging. I'm in the process of trying to get my money back/some compensation for the debacle that was my attempt to fly home from LA. It's good to be back :) I'm carving pumpkins tonight and thrilled that fall is here! Happy weekend!

It's Only Tuesday...

This week has been crazy for me, and it's only Tuesday! Unfortunately, I'm not going to do Stick 'em Up (go visit Supah-Mommy's blog for her fun stickies and the instructions if you'd like to participate though. I'll be here, doing homework...

Homesick

I'm a little concerned that being home for this break is going to make me homesick once I get back to school. It's kind of funny, because I didn't really expect that I would get homesick. I'm not unhealthily attached to my parents/family, although I do love them a lot and get along with them well. But I worked so hard to be able to go away to school and pay rent and all of that, so I thought that I would just appreciate it so much and have such a great time that I wouldn't really be missing home.

But now, I feel like I'll be so sad when I leave. I only have a few more hours left at home before I have to return to school, and even though I do really appreciate the opportunity and I enjoy my classes and my friends, I am really going to miss my family. I guess that's a good thing though; better to miss them and look forward to the time that we can spend together than not to get along with them and be frustrated that I ever have to come home on breaks. That's a good way of looking at it...

Overpopulation?

I'm not sure about you guys, but I often hear concerns about overpopulation, generally in response to pro-life arguments and the extreme fertility of some families like The Duggars, who are expecting their 19th biological child this spring. I'm not trying to begin a huge abortion debate, although I will tell you that I am pro-life. If you'd like to know why, I'd be happy to tell you my reasons, but I'm not going to engage in a scream-match, crazy-person debate full of name-calling and ad hominem attacks, because I think that those are unnecessary. I'm also not trying to say that everyone should have 19 children, or that it's even fathomable to do so. Nor am I trying to downplay world hunger, or other social problems that are often explained by overpopulation. But I came across this video, and I think it's really interesting, considering that so many issues seem to come back to overpopulation.  I'm having html issues, so you'll just have to click here to see the video!

What's the deal? Thoughts?

Giveaways!

Fyi, everyone should check outSupah-Mommy's blog for some awesome giveaways! She usually adds new ones every Friday, and there are always a ton going on! So fun! You have no excuse! I'm entering to win the Julie & Julia book for now, but the possibilities are practically endless! :)

Fall Break!

I'm officially home from school for the next few days on fall break. And boy, am I thankful that Liberty participates in this delightful mini-vacation from school! It's great!

So, I got home yesterday evening, and have been enjoying spending time with my family and eating some delicious home-cooked meals. I also never realized how strange and wonderful it is the first time you come back home after a long break. It's been almost three months since I was last home, which is the longest time I've been away from the area in my life. I didn't realize how much I missed the familiarity of it all until we drove back past my old high school and all of the places I used to take for granted when I lived here. Feels like home to me :)

Stick 'Em Up!

Once again, it's Tuesday, which means time to post some sticky notes all over blogland. You can thank Supah for this delightful idea! It's super fun, you should join in :)

In addition to all of the fun, I only have one class tomorrow and then I'm headed home for a long weekend for fall break! I'm so excited. It feels like it's been forever since I've been home, and I'm definitely looking forward to getting to see my family, friend, and reignite my addiction to Chipotle. Mmmmm

My Diva Roomie

Well, my roomie has begun reading my blog and decided that since her life is so crazy and interesting that I should begin writing solely about her. What a diva, huh?

I forgot to tell you guys, I got an A on my first real college exam! Hurray!

And, for your aesthetic enjoyment, here's a picture of Lynchburg from the top of the Snowflex. Soo awesome!

The one that got away...

It's Thursday, which means it's time for Mama Kat's prompt!

So, why am I ecstatic that the one who got away, got away?

Well actually, I already wrote this prompt for a Totally Awkward Tuesday, which you can find here. In a nutshell, I'm so glad that my Curly Ex-BF and I broke up, because now he's dating my good friend, Blondie, and he introduced me to my amazing now-boyfriend. I know, crazy huh?!
